Every so often the workshop gets busier than two hands can manage, and we go looking for another fairy.

Yes, fairy. It is what we call each other around here. There are no grand job titles at Elena Bath and Body. There is a small team, a lot of bath bombs, and a workshop that smells like somebody else's holiday. Whoever is packing, labelling, restocking or making someone's day at the counter is a fairy. You get used to it much faster than you would think.

Most of the year this page sits quietly in the footer doing nothing. When we do need an extra pair of hands, it turns up here first.

Casual Production and Packaging Fairy

Officially: Casual Production and Packaging Assistant. Forrestdale, Western Australia. 1 to 2 weekday shifts per week.

We are after someone reliable, organised and genuinely detail focused to help us get handmade bath bombs, shower steamers and bath and body products ready for the Christmas rush.

It is an active, hands on role. You will be on your feet, moving around a workspace surrounded by beautifully scented finished bath, body and home fragrance products. Some people find this the best smelling job they have ever had. It is worth knowing it is also a strongly scented room all day, every day.

This is a casual Christmas season role. For the right person there may be an opportunity for ongoing work afterwards, potentially including one regular day per week, subject to how things go and what the business needs.

The hours

1 to 2 weekday shifts per week.

Our preferred shift is 9am to 5pm. For the right person we can also do 9am to 2pm, so if you are working around school or kindy pick up, this one will fit around it. Let us know in your email which suits you and we will sort it out from there.

What you will be doing

  • Packing, labelling and preparing handmade products
  • Printing pre-designed labels using our computer programs and apps
  • Checking product names, labels and presentation carefully
  • Restocking, rotating and organising products and shelves
  • Keeping product displays fresh, clean and customer ready
  • Keeping production and retail areas tidy and organised
  • Occasionally helping at the front desk, with customers or on the till
  • If you want to, popping up in behind the scenes videos and social media content. Completely optional and nobody will nudge you about it

What we are looking for

  • Someone trustworthy and reliable who turns up on time, every shift
  • Strong attention to detail. Accurate labelling is not negotiable in this job
  • Fast, efficient, tidy and organised
  • Basic confidence with computers, apps and printers
  • The ability to work on your own and as part of a small team
  • Customer service, retail or admin experience is handy but genuinely not essential

Worth knowing before you apply

None of this is meant to put you off. We would just rather you know now than on day one.

  • The room is scented. Strongly, all day. If fragrance gives you headaches or sets off asthma, this is not the right job for you
  • You will be on your feet. Standing and moving for most of the shift
  • There is lifting. Trays weigh up to about 12 to 13 kg and need to be carried safely. If you have questions about this, ask us. We are happy to talk through what a shift actually looks like
  • Getting here matters. We are in Forrestdale, which is not on a frequent bus route, so most people drive. You will need a dependable way to get to work on time

You do not need to know our systems

Full training is provided for product tasks, label printing, our computer programs and apps, and the till if you need it. You do not need to arrive knowing any of it. You just need to be willing to learn, follow instructions and take a bit of pride in doing things properly.

Pay

Casual hourly rate in line with the relevant minimum pay rates for the role, plus casual loading and superannuation.

What it is actually like here

Elena Bath and Body has been going since 2011. Everything is made by hand in our Forrestdale workshop, and the same people who pour the wax also serve at the counter, answer the emails and sweep the floor at the end of the day. There is no back office full of people. There is us.

That means the work is varied and you will never be bored. It also means the small stuff matters, because there is nobody behind you catching a mislabelled jar before a customer opens it.
