What is a shower steamer?
Shower Steamers are similar to a bath bomb but loaded with essential oils. You place them on the shower floor or ledge, water activates them, they start to fizz and release the essential oils in the air that gets carried upwards and into the air by the water steam … perfect for you to breathe in!!!
How long does a shower steamer last?
One tablet lasts from 8-15 minutes, depending how close or far from the water stream it is. They need to get wet to activate. But don’t drench them or hold them under direct water stream as they’ll fizz out too fast!! If you have never used a steamer before; start with ¼ of a tablet and go from there, adjust your dosage (so to say) until it is to your liking. I like to use ½ of a steamer per shower or ¼ if I’m having a fast summer shower.
What if I have an open plan shower?
The effect of the steamer also depends on the type of shower you have. The effect of shower steamers is best when the shower type is enclosed, similar to a shower cabin. As all the steam is trapped inside and gets stronger as you shower. An open plan shower lets most of the steam escape the immediate area hence the essential oils travel away from you and the effect is not as strong. In this case we recommend putting the steamer into a ceramic bowl (not plastic or aluminium as the essential oil react to it) and place it on the ledge or a wall niche or somewhere closer to your face. You may have to experiment to get it right. Bu using a bowl you are trapping the oils and not letting them drain away too fast. You can leave the bowl in the shower for couple of days after as an air freshener.
Can my child use steamers?
We do not recommend the use of shower steamers for children under 2 years old.
Some steamers that are made with gentler oils like chamomile or lavender can be used in in small quantity and for a very short time… please consult a GP beforehand.
Children of age 4 and above can use the steamers under adult supervision after consulting a medical professional. Again we suggest the use in small doses.
Please do not let your child handle or ingest the steamers. If ingested please rinse the mouth and seek immediate medical attention or call Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 for advice. Can shower steamers be used during pregnancy?
We do not recommend using products with high concentration of essential oils during pregnancy. And these shower steamers are loaded with essential oils and some are mentholated. Some steamers with lavender are designed for relaxing and are gentler (like Sleep Easy & Soothe) however it’s best to consult your GP before use. All ingredients inclusive essential oil blends are disclosed on the product pages.
Also people with certain conditions, including epilepsy and high blood pressure, should consult their doctor before using any product high in essential oils.
Are shower steamers safe for pets?
It is important to note that our pets are much more sensitive to scents than us. The fragrance that you may believe to be soft or insignificant may be overwhelming and harmful to your cat or dog. Some essential oils like eucalyptus oil, tea tree oil, cinnamon, some citruses, peppermint, pine, wintergreen, can be strait up toxic to your pet. We recommend not letting your pet in the bathroom while you are having an aromatherapy shower or strait after. Do not let your pet lick the shower floor or drink the water from the steamer bowl (if using one).
Can the steamer fix my migraine?
Although there have been studies done that show that essential oils may help to manage migraines there are number of causes that lead to a migraine and the causes and treatment have to be decided by a medical practitioner… please do not hesitate to make an appointment with your GP.

What is aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils or other naturally accruing aromatic compounds to bring about physiological and emotional well-being. Please note essential oils should never be swallowed or applied undiluted to the skin.
What’s the best way to store my steamers?
Away from UV lights and humidity. So dark dry spot. Essential oils are volatile hence they evaporate or degrade with time, so use your steamers within recommended time from purchase. Do not let them sit around unwrapped or as a decoration / air freshener. Although gorgeous looking, the quality of the steamer will decrease in time while it is exposed.
I have a septic tank can I still use the steamers?
So far in our research we found that the septic tank companies recommend and encourage the use of essential oils as cleaning essentials supposed to other harsh chemicals. Essential oils are a natural ingredient and biodegrades with time. Also the dilution of the oil in water and soap is quite high. In saying that please do note that we have not done proper tests to be able to say this for sure that it is safe or not.
Why use a plastic bag to wrap the steamers, can’t you find a better non-plastic substitute?
Due to the nature of the product we have so far selected the best way of storage and product protection packaging.
Pure essential oils are quite potent and volatile:
If steamers are stored in paper the essential oils evaporate or leak – not very nice. Same for wax paper or cardboard boxes.
A tin container you may say?... mmm nope, the aluminium tin reacts to essential oils.
A true cellophane or biodegradable plastic? We would love to say yes but after experimenting, we have discovered that the biodegradable options start to biodegrade within days of the steamers being packed. So again, not an option. You still want your steamer in a presentable way and smelling at its best, right?
However we are still discussing and working and testing various other options of packaging for our steamers. A wax lined tube may be an option… and we are in the process of finding out… as any other good idea … time is required to test it. Stay tuned.
Are the steamers tested on the animals?
Nope, we do not test on animals, only friends and family…. Husband is always first in the line…. J
Are your essential oils pure? What EO brand do you use?
We work directly with essential oil distillers or reputable brokers. Hence as we work with various distillers there is no brand that we purchase from as they are different farmers or small businesses. We purchase our oils in bulk hence we can afford to price the steamers at an affordable price. We are not an MLM company nor do we use any MLM companies as our raw ingredients supplier.
Colour variation and why does my products colour fade.
Most of the picture on our website are taken immediate after the product has been made or a few days after.
Lots of times if the fragrance used in a particular product contains vanillin the product may change colour in time… white may turn tan or gray-ish colour and in cases with high load vanillin the colour can change to dark brown. We could use a vanilla stabilizer in our sweet or fruity products to temporarily stop the colour change but we rather have the colour change than add unnecessary ingredients to the products.
Colour fade: in most of our products we use water soluble colours (especially bath bombs and steamers) as we do not want to colour your tub or your shower tiles. As it is known that water soluble colour is UV sensitive and will fade if left in a well-lit area or where the sun shines. To avoid colour fading please store your product in a dark, dry place. Also some of the colour will naturally fade with time, even though some products may arrive with a brighter colour as time passes they will fade. Note colour fading will not affect the product when being used.
