No. Our shower steamers are designed to dissolve fully and cleanly when used in the shower. Any remaining powder can be rinsed away easily with water. The formula includes an emulsifier, which helps essential oils blend with the water and rinse away smoothly, reducing residue on the shower floor. As with any shower product, we recommend using caution, particularly if your shower floor is already slippery.

Yes. Some customers enjoy placing two different pieces in the shower to create their own scent combination, especially when breaking tablets into smaller portions

The usual recommendation is to place your shower steamer on the shower floor, somewhere it will get splashed with water to activate it, but not drenched and washed away. That said, after years of making, selling and using shower steamers, we’ve learned there’s no single right way to use them.

Some customers hang their steamer in an organza bag at head height and lightly splash it with water to activate the scent. Others place it in a small bowl of water and use the scented water as needed, simply splashing it onto the shower wall while they shower. Some keep theirs on a soap dish or niche where it catches occasional water. No two showers are set up the same, and no two people experience scent in quite the same way.

We recommend starting with the usual method, then experimenting to find what works best for your shower and your routine. If you discover a great new way to use them, we’d love to hear about it.

This depends on water flow and placement. Many shower steamers are designed to last one shower, but breaking them into smaller pieces can allow you to use one across multiple shorter showers

Scent throw depends on how the steamer is activated. The steamer needs to get wet enough to fizz so the essential oils can be released into the air. Hotter showers create more steam, which helps carry the fragrance. Placing the steamer closer to the water source will increase scent strength, but placing it too close can cause it to dissolve too quickly and wash away. Airflow also plays a big role. More enclosed showers work best, so closing the shower door or curtain and turning off the fan can help the steam hold the fragrance in the air for longer.
