The main difference comes down to water content and richness.

Body lotion is a lighter moisturiser that typically contains around 60 to 80 percent water. This higher water content makes it absorb quickly and feel lighter on the skin.

Body butter is thicker and more nourishing. Most emulsified body butters contain roughly 20 to 50 percent water, with a much higher concentration of oils and butters than lotion. This gives them a richer texture and longer lasting moisture, making them ideal for dry or rough areas.

Our scented shea butter is an anhydrous product, meaning it contains no added water. It provides intensive, concentrated moisture and has a denser, slower absorbing texture. Shea butter is often preferred for very dry or cracked skin, especially in its unscented form. Many people like to apply it in the evening due to its richer feel.

After a shower, when skin is slightly warm and damp, is ideal. This helps lock in moisture.

Yes. Body butter can be used daily, especially on dry or exposed areas.

Body butters are richer than lotions because they contain a higher concentration of oils and butters. When used in the right amount, they should absorb smoothly without feeling overly greasy. A little goes a long way. If your skin feels greasy after application, it usually means too much has been applied. Simply blot any excess with a tissue or gently massage it in further. Applying to slightly damp skin after a shower can also help improve absorption.

Because it is concentrated, a small amount goes a long way. Usage depends on how much is applied and how often.
